To create an inbox that 'feels right' to you, the system takes into account emails and contacts with whom you interact, and filters out noisy sources like automatically generated or bulk email. The more you use it, the better it gets. You can easily reclassify emails between Focused and Other. Get all your items into one 'inbox' and move stuff out of that inbox into a filing/remembering system as soon as possible. I'd argue that most people that use Outlook (really any email system) aren't doing this.

So I'm trying to figure out why I can see and use Focused Inbox in OWA or my Mac Outlook 2016, but not in Windows Outlook 2016. Both Outlook clients are latest version, 'first release' software. I recently received the 'Welcome to Focused Inbox' from Microsoft, and ever since then, Clutter has stopped working (as expected) and the 'Move to Clutter' option has disappeared from the context menu in Windows Outlook 2016. This is a corporate Exchange Online account, an E3 subscription, and Focused Inbox works exactly as expected in both OWA and the Mac Outlook 2016 client, as well as in the iOS Outlook client. The most annoying part of this change, in the Windows Outlook 2016 client, is that now that Clutter has stopped working, I'm getting what used to go into Clutter in my inbox. On the Mac, those same messages appear in the Other tab.

Given the symptoms, this would seem to be client-side problem, maybe a registry setting. Thanks, Mike. I am on First Release - Current Channel, and this morning I made the registry change and confirmed that it now shows me on Office Insider Fast in my Office apps, but still no Focused Inbox. I even went so far as to delete my Outlook profile and start from scratch (which means nothing if it's a registry setting) but it's still the same.
It is a slightly different build (Version 1705 Build 8103.1000 Click-To-Run), and now it only says 'Inbox' above my message list, with 'Unread Mail' and 'Mentioned Mail' having moved into the 'All' dropdown. I'll keep searching. Update: So, according to Microsoft, the reason I wasn't seeing Focused Inbox in the Windows Outlook 2016 client is because we don't have Modern Authentication enabled in our tenant. So, in the last week, I both removed and reinstalled Office 2016 on my Macbook AND I enabled Modern Authentication in our Exchange Online tenant. While the Modern Authentication change has made Focused Inbox visible in my Windows Outlook 2016 client, the functionality is not working - in any of my clients (and it did work before). I've rechecked all of the settings at both the tenant and mailbox level, and the feature is enabled everywhere.
One of my coworkers has confirmed that Focused Inbox is working for his mailbox, so the problem seems to be limited to my mailbox, but I'm stumped as to what to try next. I've even submitted a problem report to the support team (I'm in the Office Insider Fast group), but so far have received no response. This morning, my Windows Office Pro Plus 2016 suite received an update to build 1705 (8201.2025), but there's been no change in functionality, at least as far as Focused Inbox is concerned. Nothing goes into the Other tab unless I move it there manually.
